The SIRUI VA-5 is the latest addition to the range of video heads, launched in November 2014. The two-way oil damped micro head VA-5, just like the SIRUIS stand, is very high quality. A distinctive feature is that forged metal is used instead of cast parts. The control lever here is of standard design (not telescopic) and you can only have it with a right-hand grip. The VA-5 has a built-in counterweight spring that can withstand the weight of the smaller binoculars, those with 50 and 60 mm lenses. The spring prevents front- or rear-heavy equipment from tipping uncontrollably. Even if you mount an equipment heavier than 1 kg, the spring will brake. Additional balancing options are offered by the quick release plate which is 7cm long and comes with both 1/4 and 3/8 inch screws, meaning owners of certain binoculars (eg Kamakura, Opticron and Pentax) can get two attachment points, effectively counteracting 'rotating tube". The quick plate is Arca Swiss compatible and can be put on from either side, another advantage. Two spirit levels are provided to check that the equipment is level. Comes with a padded bag and carrying strap, great for the traveler who wants to protect their gear to the maximum.
